Garuda – an airline that, some years ago, would have put off the most hardened of travellers – have completely reinvented themselves. Featuring in the top ten of international airlines, it now offers a wonderful alternative to travelling out to South-east Asia. Whilst Garuda is a relatively small player with fewer flights, they make up for this with an exquisite service both on the ground and in the air. Routes go several times a week between London Heathrow and Jakarta and between Singapore and Heathrow.
If you indulge and fly First Class, you will be met at the airport by your dedicated ground attendant who will check you in, take you through Security and I tall you comfortably at your lounge. From there, you will be picked up and taken onto the aircraft once the flight is ready to depart. The aircraft cabin on Garuda’s brand new 777s is beautiful appointed with only eight mini suites in the First Class . Service and food cannot be faulted by anyone’s standards. Garuda is the only airline I have come across that has an onboard chef in the cabin who prepares your meals, which will be served at any time you wish. There is only one bathroom in the cabin, but even that is not a problem – should it be occupied by any of the other 7 passengers, the flight attendant will come and get you once it is free …they even have your clothes ready and hanging in the bathroom to change back into when you wake up.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience with a dedicated service that combines the perfection of service on Thai Air and the sophistication of Singapore Airlines. Check Trailfinders for fight deals and sails on airlines worldwide – in my experience, they consistently offer the best prices on hotels and flights and an amazingly professional operation for all your travel needs.Tags: Holiday Tourism Travel
